About Us

Bexley Crossroads Care Ltd is a registered charity and company limited by guarantee. The scheme is affiliated to the Crossroads Association and comes under their framework of policies and procedures, although Bexley Crossroads is an independent organisation. Bexley Crossroads aims and objectives are to support Carers of adults/children with special/additional needs. The scheme provides a range of services to enable Carers in Bexley to have a short break from their caring responsibilities through the provision of community based Care Support Workers.

By providing short care breaks Bexley Crossroads improves the health of both the carer and the person with care needs. The carer, by receiving a break, is relieved of the stress of caring and so enabled to continue as a carer. The person with care needs is enabled to carry on living in the community, whereas if the care broke down under stress the person with care needs would be likely to need residential care, the carer hospitalisation. The person with care needs includes children, young people and adults with physical and learning disabilities, mental health, sensory and life threatening conditions from all ethnic backgrounds.

The scheme is registered and inspected by the Commission for Social Care Inspectorate whose role is to promote improvement in social care and to ensure standards are met in key areas. In addition we achieved the Investors in People award in 2004 and retained it for a further three years in June 2007, which shows our commitment to the continuing professional development of  our staff. The scheme has also achieved Level 3 quality assurance standard in CROQUET.(a quality assurance standard based on PQASSO).

Although the scheme is affiliated to the Crossroads Association, Bexley Crossroads has its own Board of Trustee Directors that has the responsibility of the strategic governance of the scheme.

Bexley Crossroads work very closely with other statutory and voluntary agencies to ensure that our services fit into the areas where more than one provider is supporting a client. However, you can be sure that Bexley Crossroads respect the confidentiality of our clients at all times.

The Bexley Crossroads scheme was founded in 1990 by a joint grant from Bexley Council and Bexley Health Authority*. Since inception the scheme has grown extensively and is currently funded by Bexley Council, Bexley Care Trust, Bridge House Trust and independent donations.

The team comprises of a Chief Executive, Care Administrator and  two Administrative Assistants. Bexley Crossroads employs 36 Care Support Workers and 6 Senior Care Support Workers. The scheme provides around 350 direct care hours per week.
